Amazon's Alexa+ Brings a Must-Have Feature to Voice Assistants That Apple's Siri Lacks

Amazon’s Alexa+ promises a seamless, context-aware voice assistant experience across all devices, outpacing Siri's fragmented approach.

Amazon has unveiled Alexa+, an updated version of its voice assistant that integrates generative AI, offering a more seamless and consistent experience across multiple devices. This new feature is available for free to customers who own or purchase select Echo Show models, as well as on Fire TV and Fire tablets. Additionally, an Alexa+ app will be launched for both iPhone and Android, and Alexa.com will receive updates. The key advantage of Alexa+ lies in its ability to maintain context across different devices, allowing users to start a conversation on one device and continue it on another without losing the thread. In contrast, Siri, Apple's voice assistant, remains fragmented across devices, with limited contextual awareness and no memory of past conversations between devices. This fragmentation hinders the overall user experience, despite Siri being available on a wider range of Apple products. Amazon's approach to having a single, cloud-based Alexa+ service contrasts sharply with Apple's device-centric model for Siri.
