Android 16 Beta 4 Glitch Reverts Lockscreen Shortcuts to Single Tap
In what is likely a bug, some users of Android 16 Beta 4 are experiencing an issue where the requirement to long-press lockscreen shortcuts has been removed. Instead, these shortcuts can now be activated with a single tap, which can lead to accidental activations and issues like battery drain or unexpected heat generation. Google introduced the long-press requirement in Android 14 to prevent such accidents. This regression is not affecting all devices running Android 16 Beta 4; it has been observed on only two out of six tested phones. It appears that this is an unintended change and will likely be fixed before the stable release.
