Apple Boosts Green Future with $100 Million Investment in Chinese Renewable Energy
Apple has announced a new investment of 720 million Chinese yuan (approximately $99.2 million USD) to expand clean energy sources in China, marking the second China Clean Energy Fund. This initiative aims to add 550,000 megawatt-hours of renewable wind and solar energy to China’s grid annually, with potential for growth as more investors join. The fund builds on the success of the first China Clean Energy Fund launched in 2018, which developed over a gigawatt-hour of new wind and solar projects. Apple COO Jeff Williams highlighted the commitment to green manufacturing and innovation through this collaboration with suppliers in China. This investment is part of Apple’s broader goal to achieve 100% renewable energy use in its supply chain by 2030.
