Apple Cuts Back on Vision Pro Production with Possibility of Complete Halt
Apple has reportedly cut production of the Vision Pro mixed-reality headset to about 1,000 units per day, after having reduced orders over the summer. It's believed Apple could stop assembly altogether by the end of 2024, with enough components produced to make around 600,00 headsets.
Analysts estimate that roughly 370,000 Vision Pro headsets were sold in the first three fiscal quarters of 2024 with an additional 50,000 anticipated by year's end. With suppliers having assembled between 500,000 and 600,000 headsets, this leaves an excess of around 200,000 units. Although these plans may change, it's possible Apple is allowing supplies to dwindle for a newer cheaper model that could emerge in 2026 or even a second generation Vision Pro expected to begin production by the latter half of 2025.
