Apple Introduces Advanced Age Assurance Features to Safeguard Children in the App Store

Apple rollout new child protection features for the App Store, enhancing parental controls and app age verification.

Apple is implementing new protections for children regarding the use of age-appropriate apps in the App Store. The initial rollout of these features includes an improved and faster setup process for parents and a delayed setup option for children, ensuring that all default child protection options are enabled if the user is under 13. Parents will also have the ability to correct age details and control what information developers can access through the Declared Age Range API. Apple will introduce more precise age ratings (4+, 9+, 13+, 16+, 18+) to better categorize apps, and block inappropriate content from appearing in searches for children. These changes aim to simplify the system for parents and developers while maintaining privacy.
