Apple has issued warnings to select iPhone users who may have been targeted by mercenary spyware attacks. The notification was sent to individuals across 100 countries, including Dutch political activist Eva Vlaardingerbroek and Italian journalist Ciro Pellegrino. Apple's warning alert states that the attack is likely targeting users due to their identity or activities, and urges recipients to take it seriously. While Apple does not disclose how it detects such attacks, it recommends updating to the latest iOS version (18.4.1) which fixes two actively exploited vulnerabilities, and activating Lockdown mode as an additional security measure. Users are also advised to seek assistance from the Digital Security Helpline at Access Now for further protection.
