Apple Launches Music Migration Tool: Say Goodbye to Spotify with Ease
New Apple Music Migration Tool Helps Users Shift from Competing Services
Apple is rolling out a new tool to help users migrate their music libraries and playlists from other streaming services, like Spotify, to Apple Music. The tool is currently available in Australia and New Zealand, with plans to expand globally.
Key Features:
- Playlist Transfer: Users can transfer saved playlists, liked songs, and albums.
- Cross-Platform Support: Migration can be initiated from an iPhone, iPad, or Android device, as well as via a web browser on music.apple.com.
- Match and Review: Apple Music will attempt to find matches for the selected tracks in its catalog. Users have 30 days to review unmatched music and select alternates.
- Third-Party Collaboration: The tool is developed in collaboration with SongShift, an app used for transferring playlists between services.
Process:
- Initiate Transfer: Go to Apple Music settings and select 'Transfer Music from Other Music Services.'
- Select Service: Choose the music service you are migrating from.
- Sign In: Log into your account on the third-party service.
- Select Items: Choose what to transfer.
- Add to Library: Tap 'Add to Library' to start the transfer process.
This tool arrives at a time when Apple is facing regulatory challenges, including a court order to allow Spotify to include direct links for purchases and price information in its app.
