Apple News+ Expands with Dedicated Food Section

Apple has announced a new feature coming to its subscription news service, Apple News+, which will debut in iOS 18.4. The update introduces Apple News+ Food, a curated collection of tens of thousands of recipes from worldwide publishers such as Good Food and Allrecipes.

Key Features:

  • Cook Mode: A full-screen display for recipe instructions, similar to how Apple Music displays song lyrics. Users can easily switch between the recipe directions and the list of required ingredients with a single tap.
  • Free Content for Non-Subscribers: While part of the News+ subscription, selected food articles and recipes will be available to non-subscribers.

Availability:

  • iOS 18.4 Beta: The feature is already available in the developer beta, set to release publicly in April 2025.
  • Territories: Currently, Apple has not confirmed if the service will roll out to all territories that have Apple News+, but it is available in at least the US and UK during the beta phase.

Background:

  • Apple News+: Launched in 2019, the service offers a selection of articles and news stories for free, with additional content available through subscription.
