Apple is reportedly working with Samsung to change how RAM is packaged in iPhones, aiming to widen the bandwidth to enhance performance in AI tasks. Most smartphones have their RAM on the same package as the processor, but Apple wants to separate them in order to allow for more RAM and faster memory access for its Apple Intelligence features. The Elec reports that Apple has asked Samsung to research how best to package DRAM memory used in iPhones, with a focus on creating a larger DRAM package and connecting it back to the processor in the fastest way possible.
