Apple Pay Expands Its Reach in UAE and Qatar with Jaywan and Himyan Integration
Apple Pay, already available in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar, is set to expand its support to more card networks within these countries. According to iOS 18.4 beta 3 code, Apple has been collaborating with UAE’s Jaywan and Qatar’s Himyan to integrate their cards into the payment system. Jaywan, a UAE-based card network, has confirmed investments in strengthening the country's digital payments infrastructure, which includes adding support for both Google Pay and Apple Pay. Additionally, Jaywan has signed agreements with international networks like Discover, Mastercard, Visa, and UnionPay, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Samsung Gulf Electronics to integrate Jaywan cards into Samsung Wallet.
The next phase of implementation will bring Jaywan to Google Pay and Apple Pay. With Apple Pay integration, iPhone and Apple Watch users can add their cards to the Wallet app for contactless payments in stores and online transactions. The expanded support is expected to roll out with the release of iOS 18.4 in early April.
