Apple to stop selling iPhone SE and iPhone 14 in Europe as USB-C deadline hits

Apple will stop selling the iPhone SE and iPhone 14 series in Europe at the end of 2024 due to the USB-C universal charging connector deadline set by the European Union, which goes into effect in January 2025. The affected devices feature a Lightning port, which is incompatible with this new standard. Apple has chosen not to produce new versions of these devices with USB-C ports, leading to their discontinuation slightly earlier than would otherwise occur.

The upcoming fourth-generation iPhone SE will launch in spring 2025 with a USB-C port, while the iPhone 16, slated for release in fall 2024 outside the EU, is expected to feature the same. By the end of 2025, the Lightning port era of Apple devices will be over.
