Apple's Acquisition of Pixelmator Reignites Hope for Aperture's Return

Apple has officially acquired Pixelmator, a company that develops popular image editing software for macOS and iOS. The author hopes that Apple will use Pixelmator's expertise to bring back Aperture, a professional photo editing software that was discontinued in 2014 with the introduction of the new Photos app. Currently, Pixelmator has an app called Photomator which competes with Adobe Lightroom. The author is concerned that Apple will make the Photos app even more complicated, but believes that implementing some of Pixelmator's features could work well.
