Brazilian Court Orders Apple to Allow Sideloading on iOS within 90 Days

A Brazilian court has ruled that Apple must allow sideloading on iOS for iPhone users in Brazil within 90 days. This decision follows a similar ruling by the EU, which forced Apple to make changes to the App Store and iOS. The Brazilian antitrust regulator, Cade, had previously ordered Apple to stop preventing developers from selling content and distributing apps outside the App Store, with a fine of over $40,000 per day for non-compliance. Apple has appealed the decision, arguing that such changes could harm user privacy and security, but Judge Pablo Zuniga ruled that the company must comply within three months, citing Apple's compliance in other countries without significant impact. The case was initiated by complaints from companies like Mercado Libre, Match (owner of Tinder), and Epic Games, who accused Apple of anticompetitive practices.
