Chrome for Android Gets Tab Search and Cross-Device Tab Group Sync

• Tab Search Introduction:

  • Added a new search bar in the tab switcher to easily find and open tabs.
  • The search function works with both regular and Incognito tabs.
  • It searches across 'Last open tabs,' 'Bookmarks,' 'History,' and 'Search the web.'
  • This feature is available in Chrome 133 for Android.

• Tab Group Sync:

  • Tab groups can now be synced across devices signed into Chrome.
  • A new 2×2 icon at the top of the tab grid allows access to these synced groups.
  • Users can control this feature under 'Settings > Advanced > Tabs,' with an option to automatically open tab groups from other devices (enabled by default).

• Additional Features:

  • Inactive tabs are moved to a dedicated section above the tab grid after 21 days (customizable to 7 or 14 days).
  • There is an option to archive duplicate tabs, keeping only the most recently used copy.
  • Tabs inactive for 60 days can be automatically closed and accessed via History.
