DOJ proposes radical antitrust remedies against Google, including potential Android and Chrome spinoff
The US Justice Department is considering recommending that Android and/or Chrome be spun off as part of antitrust remedies against Google. A judge will decide on the remedies next year, with options including making Google offer an API for competitors to access search data and features, among other advertising-specific remedies. Google argues that breaking up its products would affect its competition with Apple and that the DOJ's proposed remedies are too broad and could have negative unintended consequences.
