European Regulators to Assess if iPadOS Changes Comply with Digital Markets Act
European antitrust regulators are evaluating whether changes to iPadOS comply with the Digital Markets Act. In March, Apple released iPadOS 17.4 with more than 600 new APIs and allowed third-party developers to distribute apps outside of the App Store in the EU. However, the European Commission has stated that Apple must also allow users to set their default web browser on iPadOS, enable alternative app stores, and permit accessory devices like headphones and smart pens to effectively access iPadOS features.
