Eye Tracking for Scrolling on Apple Vision Pro Apple is developing a new feature for the Vision Pro that will allow users to scroll through apps using eye movements. This enhancement builds upon the existing hand gesture control system, enabling hands-free navigation by simply looking around within an app.
The feature is currently in testing and may be included in visionOS 3. It leverages the Vision Pro's eye-tracking capabilities, which are already used to detect what a user is focusing on for selection with a pinch gesture.
Apple plans to roll out this functionality across its own apps, and developers will have access to integrate it into their visionOS applications. This update could improve usability, especially for users who prefer not to constantly use hand gestures.
The announcement aligns with Apple's broader efforts in accessibility, as seen with the introduction of eye-tracking features in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. These features include Dwell Control, which automatically selects items after a user gazes at them for a set duration, along with configurable options for smoother navigation.
The feature is expected to debut at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 9, 2025.
