Fitbit Refreshes Health Metrics UI for a Native, Modern Experience on iOS and Android
Fitbit gives its Health Metrics UI a much-needed facelift on both Android and iOS, making it more native and user-friendly.
Fitbit App Redesigns Health Metrics UI on Android, iOS
Overview
Fitbit has revamped the Health Metrics interface on both Android and iOS to provide a more native and modern user experience. This update addresses previous criticisms about the app feeling web-based rather than natively integrated.
Old Layout
- The old layout featured a two-tab system (Today and Trends).
- It included a card on the Today feed, which remains unchanged in the new design.
New Design
- Single Page Layout:
- The new interface consolidates all metrics into a single page for the 'Today' view.
- A five-part gauge and an 'x of 5' count are prominently displayed at the top.
- Detailed Metrics List:
- A modern list format now presents Breathing Rate (BR), Blood Oxygen (SpO2), Resting Heart Rate (RHR), Heart Rate Variability (HRV), and Skin Temperature Variation.
- Tapping on any metric opens a detailed trends chart with Week, Month, and Year views, providing more historical data than before.
- Explanatory Content:
- Each metric now comes with an explanation, enhancing user understanding.
Platform and Rollout
- The redesign is currently available for iOS (version 4.39) and Android, though the Android rollout is still in progress.
- The app has been moved to the Google LLC developer account, signaling a closer integration with Google's ecosystem.
Future Updates
- Fitbit aims to revamp other features, such as Food logging, which may eventually lead to the introduction of a dark theme.
Additional Features
- Personalized Sleep Schedule Lab: Testing has begun for this new feature.
- Insights Explorer: Testing has ended for this lab.
- Device Updates: New updates are rolling out for the Charge 6, Sense 2, and Versa 4.
