Fitbit Refreshes Health Metrics UI on Android for a More Native Experience

Fitbit brings a sleek new Health Metrics redesign to Android, enhancing the user experience with larger data displays and native app integration.

Fitbit's Health Metrics Redesign for Android

Fitbit has rolled out a new design for the Health Metrics section of its app on Android, as part of version 4.39.2, which is now widely available in the Play Store. The redesign aligns with the style of other stats pages and transforms the Health Metrics experience from a webpage to a native app feature.

Key Changes:

  • New Layout: The Today card remains unchanged, but tapping it reveals a new layout starting with a five-part personal range dial for:
    • Breathing rate (BR)
    • Blood oxygen (SpO2)
    • Resting heart rate (RHR)
    • Heart rate variability (HRV)
    • Skin temperature variation
  • Data Presentation: Checkmarks have been removed, and the actual data values are displayed more prominently.
  • Detail Views: Tapping on a specific metric allows users to view Week, Month, and Year charts with detailed explanations below.
  • Trade-offs: The redesign no longer displays all five graphs (7, 30, and 90 days) on the same page, which was previously possible through quick scrolling.

Installation and Usage:

  • Users may need to force stop the app after updating to see the new design, which includes a splash screen before opening.

Additional Information:

  • The update also comes with other changes, including data deletion policies for users who do not migrate to Google accounts by 2026, and new features like personalized sleep schedules.
