Foxconn Plans to Double iPhone Production in India by End of 2025

Foxconn, a major manufacturer for Apple, plans to double its annual production of iPhones in India by the end of 2025. This expansion aligns with Apple's strategy to diversify its manufacturing bases and reduce reliance on China. The company aims to produce between 25 million and 30 million iPhones in India this year, up from approximately 12 million units in the previous year.

The expansion involves ongoing restricted testing operations at Foxconn's facility in Bengaluru to ensure that production meets Apple's stringent quality standards. These trials are a crucial first phase to assess the plant's capacity for large-scale production.

While Apple does not disclose official figures, market analysis firms estimate that India accounted for 5.31% of global iPhone production in 2024. However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported higher figures, suggesting that India produced between 12% and 14% of all iPhones in 2023, with projections of 20% to 25% for 2024.

India's government is also incentivizing local manufacturing with proposed subsidies. Additionally, Apple is ramping up production in India to mitigate the impact of potential tariffs on Chinese imports.
