A consortium of publishers and ad companies in France have written to Tim Cook asking Apple to abandon its Distraction Control feature. This feature allows users to remove elements from websites in Safari that they do not want to see, including ads. The group believes the feature poses an existential threat to online advertising which relies on revenue generated by ads on webpages. They have also indicated that they are considering all legal resources available and have sent a copy of their letter to the European Commission.
