Android Developments
- PC Games to Mobile Pilot Program: Google is launching a pilot program to simplify bringing PC games to mobile, with support from development to publishing.
- First Games Launching on Android:
- DREDGE and TABS Mobile (Totally Accurate Battle Simulator) will launch this month.
- Disco Elysium is set for release this year.
- Vulkan as Official Graphics API: Vulkan is becoming the official graphics API for Android, enabling ray tracing and multithreading. The next Android release will use Vulkan for all graphics commands.
- ADPF Updates: Google is updating the Android Dynamic Performance Framework (ADPF) to provide longer and smoother gameplay sessions by working with MediaTek and game engines.
Play Games on PC
- General Availability: Play Games on PC, which brings Android titles to Windows, will exit beta later this year.
- All Mobile Games Available on PC: By default, all mobile games will be available on PC with an opt-out option. A playability badge will indicate whether a game is optimized or playable on PC.
- Native PC Game Support: The Play Games store will add support for native PC games, including titles like Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, Sonic Rumble, and ODIN: VALHALLA RISING.
- Enhancements:
- Custom control mappings and a sidebar for quick adjustments.
- Multi-account and multi-instance support added this month.
- Emphasis on Play Points with up to 10x points boosters.
- AMD Support: Play Games on PC now supports AMD laptops and desktops. Google is partnering with PC OEMs to make the app accessible from the start menu on new devices.
