Google Home Max to Lose Sound Detection Feature Starting May 8, 2025
Starting May 8, 2025, the Google Home Max will no longer support sound detection as part of the Nest Aware subscription. This means it will no longer notify users if it detects sounds like a smoke/carbon monoxide alarm or glass breaking. The feature will still be available on other Google devices with Nest Aware subscriptions. The exact reason for this change is not specified, but it may be related to the older firmware version (1.56.275994) of the 2017 Google Home Max compared to more recent models (3.75.456944). Despite its discontinuation in late 2020/early 2021, the device continues to receive updates.
