Google Launches ‘Voluntary Exit’ Program for US Employees in Platforms & Devices Group

Google has introduced a 'voluntary exit program' for employees in its Platforms & Devices group, which includes teams working on Pixel hardware and Android software. This initiative, applicable to US-based employees, follows the merger of the Pixel and Android divisions last year. The head of this division, SVP Rick Osterloh, sent a memo detailing the program's aim to benefit those who may not align with or be passionate about the merged organization’s mission, or are struggling with their roles, including hybrid working requirements. Employees opting for this voluntary exit will receive a severance package. Google emphasizes that there are no associated product roadmap changes and highlights 'tremendous momentum' within the Platforms & Devices team.
