Google Photos Simplifies Navigation

Google is updating the Google Photos app by simplifying its bottom navigation bar on Android devices. The update removes the 'Memories' tab, which has been moved to the 'Collections' tab and renamed to 'Moments.' This section continues to auto-categorize images and videos from the same event, allowing users to add details, search, and share with others. The main gallery still features a popular carousel of memories.

The updated bottom bar now includes only three tabs: Photos, Collections, and Ask (or Search). A similar change has been made to the navigation rail on tablets and foldables, following the cleaner layout seen in Google Maps. This update was first rolled out to iOS at the end of last year and began appearing on Android in January, with wider availability now through Google Photos version 7.20.
