Google Pixel Devices Can Now Bypass Charge - What This Means for Your Phone
Google Pixel devices seem to have added a new 'bypass' charging feature which limits battery charging to 80%. This update is designed to help protect the battery, as charging to full capacity can impact the health of the battery over time. When the device hits the 80% limit, it appears to stop charging the battery but continue using power from a plug to power the phone.
The ability for Pixel phones to limit charging to 80%, added with the December update to Android 15 QPR1, could be useful in mobile gaming as the device can get the power needed without draining or overcharging the battery. The 'bypass' behavior has only been confirmed on a Pixel 8 Pro thus far.
