Google Revamps Quick Share with a Fresh Look and Enhanced Features
Quick Share Redesign for Android
Google is reportedly working on a major redesign of the Quick Share feature, which currently functions as an equivalent to AirDrop on Android devices. The new design was revealed in a teardown of the latest Google Play Services update and includes several notable changes:
- Receive Tab: This new tab displays how your device appears to other users and lists any incoming share requests.
- Send Tab: The existing functionality for sending files is retained, but with an added 'Add Files' option that allows users to manually select files for sharing.
- Settings Redesign: The settings page, including the 'Who can share with you' section, is also being revamped for a more polished look.
These changes suggest that Quick Share will operate more like a standalone app, rather than just a feature accessible through the sharing menu. The redesign appears to be in a relatively advanced stage, as it was also spotted in a recent One UI 8 leak. However, the exact launch date is yet to be announced.
