Google has filed an appeal in the Epic case and is asking the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to pause the proposed changes to Android and the Google Play Store until the legal process plays out. A District Court judge had previously ruled that Google cannot prohibit developers from communicating with users about app availability or pricing outside the Play Store, nor require the use of Google Play Billing in apps distributed there. The appeal filing asserts that implementing these changes within three weeks poses an 'unacceptable risk' to user safety and security, pointing to a recent issue with CrowdStrike as evidence.
