Google Keep Introduces 'Create Text Notes by Default' Setting on Android

Key Features:

  • New Toggle in Settings: Users can now enable a 'Create text notes by default' option, which is off by default.
  • Immediate Text Note Creation: When enabled, tapping the floating action button (FAB) will directly open a new text note for typing.
  • Long Press for Other Note Types: To create other types of notes, users can long press on the FAB.
  • Restored Audio Note Shortcut: The shortcut for creating audio notes has been restored, which was previously removed in a redesign.

Additional Updates:

  • Server-Side Rollout: This update is being rolled out via server-side changes and is currently available with version 5.25.102.01.90 of Google Keep on one device.
  • New 'Reload My Account' Button: A new 'Reload my account' button has been added to the bottom of the Settings page.
