Google Upgrades NotebookLM with Gemini 2.5 Flash for Better Multi-Step Reasoning

In an update this week, Google has revealed that NotebookLM is now powered by Gemini 2.5 Flash, up from the previous version 2.0 Flash announced in December. This upgrade should bring more comprehensive and nuanced responses to complex queries due to its enhanced thinking capabilities. Additionally, Google introduced Audio Overviews available in over 50 languages, a feature made possible by Gemini's native audio support. The experimental 2.5 Flash model is already available in the Gemini app with all its features, and it will eventually replace the older version once stabilized. For developers, a preview of gemini-2.5-flash-preview-04-17 is also available, with more improvements on the way before general availability.
