Google has introduced a new program called "Longevity GRF" that makes it easier for Android manufacturers to provide up to 7 years of updates on more phones, starting with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. The program allows companies to continue using original vendor software for up to 7 Android OS updates, although they will still need to update the Linux kernel every 3 years for security reasons.
