iOS 18.2 Brings Expanded Default App Categories and New Settings Hub
iOS 18.2, set to release in just weeks, will allow users to set new default apps on their iPhones. The update expands the categories for default apps and introduces a new Settings hub called Default Apps, where users can easily manage their preferences. Users can now change default apps across eight different categories, including new options like messaging, calling, and contactless app. These changes mean that when a user taps a link to an email, phone number, or standard URL, the chosen default app will be used instead of Apple's own apps.
