iOS 18.4 Introduces CarPlay Connectivity Issues for iPhone Users

Apple's latest update, iOS 18.4, introduces several new features such as Priority Notifications and new emoji, but it has also brought significant CarPlay connectivity issues for some users. Since the update, multiple users have reported a range of problems with CarPlay, including:

  • Now Playing Information Missing: The current song or media information from CarPlay is no longer displaying on their car’s gear cluster display.
  • Connectivity Problems: Users are experiencing frequent disconnections and unstable connections, especially with wireless CarPlay. Some users have to repeatedly plug and unplug their devices or restart their cars multiple times to get CarPlay working.

These issues affect various automakers, including Honda, Mazda, Audi, and Ford. Users have tried several troubleshooting steps like re-pairing their phones and rebooting both the phone and car systems, but many still face problems. One user suggests deleting and re-adding the car from the CarPlay settings as a potential solution.

Volkswagen customer service has acknowledged the issues but notes that Apple must provide the fix. iOS 18.5 is currently in beta testing and is expected to be released next month, which may include a resolution for these CarPlay problems.
