Apple's new Vehicle Motion Cues feature in iOS 18 has been life-changing for those who suffer from motion sickness when using devices in moving vehicles. By introducing animated dots on the screen that move in sync with the car, it reduces sensory conflict and allows people to comfortably use their iPhones or iPads while riding without discomfort. For me personally, this new feature allowed me to work on my iPad during a hurricane evacuation for hours without any motion sickness symptoms. This truly transformational addition was made possible by research at Apple that identified sensory conflict as the root cause of motion sickness experienced when people try to use their devices in moving vehicles. By using sensors built into iPhones and iPads, Vehicle Motion Cues intelligently recognizes when someone is in a car and responds accordingly. In my case, before iOS 18 was released, I couldn't even make it through opening a webpage on my phone without feeling motion sickness coming on strong.
