The author had always wanted a smaller phone but didn't want to compromise on battery life, and the iPhone 16 Pro offered similar battery performance to the iPhone 15 Pro Max despite its smaller size. This, combined with the addition of the 5x telephoto camera on the smaller model and improvements in thermal performance, made the decision to upgrade easier.
