Judge Dismisses 'Tetris' Movie Lawsuit: Apple TV+ Film Cleared of Copying Claims

A judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by author Dan Ackerman against Apple TV+ over their movie 'Tetris.' The lawsuit claimed that Apple's film ripped off Ackerman’s book, 'The Tetris Effect: The Game That Hypnotized The World,' without permission or payment. US District Judge Katherine Failla ruled that the movie and the book were not sufficiently similar, as both were based on the true story of the creation of the game 'Tetris.' Ackerman's book, published in 2016, was presented to The Tetris Company before its release, which led to a cease and desist letter and the company refusing to license any projects based on his book. 'Tetris,' the movie, is now available to stream on Apple TV+, starring Taron Egerton.
