Judge Rejects Apple's Late Attempt to Intervene in Google Monopoly Case
Google was found to be a search and advertising monopoly in breach of Section 2 of the Sherman Act in August 2024. Following this ruling, Apple tried to intervene in the case due to its billion-dollar contract with Google over search on the iPhone. However, Judge Amit Mehta said that Apple had waited too long to intervene, and denied its motion. He did allow for Apple to participate as amicus curiae and file post-hearing submissions when crafting the remedial decree.
