According to a Canalys report from February 25, 2025, the market for computers with AI capabilities grew rapidly in 2024, accounting for 17% of total PC shipments. In Q4 2024, AI-capable PCs made up 23% of overall PC shipments.

Apple's Mac lineup, powered by Apple Silicon and its Neural Engine, dominated the AI-capable PC market with a 45% share in Q4 2024. Over the entire year, Apple secured a massive 54% of the AI-capable market, significantly ahead of competitors like Lenovo and HP, which each held 12%. Windows PCs accounted for 46% of the AI-capable market.

Growth Trends and Future Outlook

  • Windows-based AI PCs: Grew in Q4 2024, driven by commercial deployments. The deadline for the end of support for Windows 10 is expected to boost this segment further.
  • Mac Strategy: Apple’s legacy M-series models are seeing price reductions, helping grow commercial share, especially in emerging markets. The introduction of Apple Intelligence and the new Apple Partner Network are also expected to enhance its corporate appeal.

While AI capabilities aren’t a primary purchasing driver, improved performance in AI processing can influence brand loyalty and future device upgrade decisions.
