Mastering the Moire: A New Era for Tuning Superconductors
Science enters a new dimension as researchers use moire patterns to visually map and manipulate the flow of Cooper-pairs in superconductors.
Scientists have achieved a significant breakthrough in quantum materials by creating moire superlattices in Sb2Te3/FeTe bilayers. By employing Josephson scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy, the team successfully imaged the spatial modulation of superconducting gaps. This research demonstrates that these density modulation states can be specifically tuned by substituting material components, such as using Bi2Te3, providing a powerful new tool for engineering the electronic properties of superconductors at the atomic level.
