Next-Level Entertainment: Android Automotive Set to Boost App Selection with Streaming and Gaming Services
Android Automotive to Receive Over a Dozen New Streaming and Gaming Apps
One of the main criticisms of Android Automotive has been its limited app selection. However, this is about to change with the introduction of numerous new streaming services and games designed for in-car use. This expansion is part of Google's 'car-ready mobile apps program,' which aims to provide entertainment options while vehicles are stationary, such as during charging or parking.
Notable additions include Plex, F1 TV, Red Bull TV, NBC News, and a variety of games like Roblox and Farm Heroes Saga. These applications are specifically designed to be used when the vehicle is not in motion, ensuring safety for drivers and passengers.
The enhanced app support will initially be available on vehicles from Volvo and Polestar, with no word yet on other carmakers. While this update brings a significant improvement to the in-car experience, it's worth noting that some popular services are still missing compared to the Android Auto platform.
To access these new apps, users can launch the Google Play Store directly from their supported Android Automotive vehicle or visit the dedicated storefront landing page for remote installation.
