OnePlus Watch 2 Faces Long Delay for Wear OS 5 Update, While Watch 3 Gets Extended Support

OnePlus has announced the update timeline for Wear OS 5 on its smartwatches, with mixed news for owners of the OnePlus Watch 2 and Watch 3. The OnePlus Watch 2 will receive the Wear OS 5 update in Q3 2025, which is a significant delay compared to other devices that received updates in late 2024. However, the Watch 2 will still get three years of software updates (WearOS 4, 5 & 6) and quarterly security updates until 2026. On the other hand, the newly launched OnePlus Watch 3, which comes with Wear OS 5 pre-installed, will also receive three years of software updates (WearOS 5, 6 & 7) and quarterly security updates until 2027. Initially, there was confusion about the support window for the Watch 3, but OnePlus clarified that it will indeed get a full three years of updates.
