Pixel Camera Update: Video Boost Now Stays Enabled for Seamless Shooting
Video Boost Tweak for Pixel Cameras
Google has implemented an update to the Pixel Camera app, affecting Pixel 8 Pro, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro XL models. This update ensures that the Video Boost feature remains enabled even after closing and reopening the app. Previously, users had to manually enable Video Boost each time they opened the app, which was inconvenient for capturing short but intermittent video segments.
The Video Boost feature enhances video quality by providing a boost to 8K resolution, along with improvements to lighting, colors, and details. However, these enhancements require cloud processing, which can take some time and might not be ideal on cellular networks. By making Video Boost a sticky setting, Google is removing one of the barriers to its usage.
This change was observed in version 9.7.047.710329721.21 of the Pixel Camera app, which was released as a small patch at the end of last month. The update might have been part of this release or a recent server-side change.
