Pixel Watch 3 Brings Life-Saving Loss of Pulse Detection to the US in March

Google's Pixel Watch 3 is set to roll out a life-saving Loss of Pulse Detection feature in the US next month, expanding its safety capabilities.

Summary

Loss of Pulse Detection Coming to Pixel Watch 3 in the US in March

Google has announced that the Loss of Pulse Detection feature for the Pixel Watch 3, which was launched last year in several European countries, will be rolled out in the United States starting at the end of March. The feature, which uses the watch’s heart rate monitor, sensors, AI, and signal-processing algorithms, detects when a user's pulse stops, which can indicate serious conditions such as cardiac arrest or respiratory failure.

When a loss of pulse is detected, the Pixel Watch 3 will prompt users to confirm they are okay. If there is no response or movement, the watch will automatically call emergency services and provide the user’s location and context. This safety feature complements other health monitoring capabilities on the Pixel Watch 3, such as Irregular Heart Rhythm Notifications and the ECG app.

The Loss of Pulse Detection feature must be enabled in the Pixel Watch app under 'Safety & Emergency' settings. It is currently available in 14 European countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
