Revolutionizing Calls: Google Unveils New Pixel Phone Features and Filters
Pixel Phone App Update Overview
Call Interface Redesign
- New Layout: The Pixel phone call interface has been updated to provide quick access to features like Call Assist and Audio Emoji.
- Call Notes Access: Previously accessed via the 'More' button, Call Notes and Audio Emoji are now prominently displayed as large pills above the keypad, mute, phone, and more buttons.
- Live Transcripts & Summary: Tapping on these new elements reveals a sheet with options for live transcripts and call summaries. This feature was introduced to beta users in January 2023.
- Device Compatibility: This UI update is currently available on Pixel 9 series devices, which are the only models that support Call Notes.
Recents View Filters
- New Filters: The recent calls view now includes filters for 'All,' 'Missed,' 'Contacts,' 'Non-spam,' and 'Spam.'
- Enhanced Search Bar: The search bar in the Recents view has been made taller for better visibility.
- Purpose: These changes help users quickly find missed calls, calls from contacts, and filter out spam calls.
- Availability: The beta version (162) of the app now supports these filters on non-Pixel devices with Phone by Google installed.
Additional Features
- Reverse Phone Number Lookup: Users can look up unknown numbers.
- Direct My Call: A feature that helps users navigate automated phone menus.
- Hold for Me & Call Screen: Provides suggested replies to incoming calls.
- Live Caption in Calls: Allows users to read and type responses during phone calls, with the app reading typed messages aloud to the caller. This can be enabled through Settings > Accessibility > Live Caption > Live Caption in calls.
