Susan Kare’s New Art Project: Limited Edition Keycaps
Susan Kare, acclaimed for her iconic early Macintosh graphics including the Happy Mac and Dogcow, has ventured into a new medium with limited edition keycaps. Commissioned by Alastair Walker of Asprey Studio, these keycaps feature new low-resolution images in Kare’s signature pixel art style.
Keycap Design and Concept:
- Themes: The designs include two dogs and other symbols meant to remind users of life beyond their screens.
- Materials: Available in enameled silver or gold vermeil, a technique that provides a thicker and more durable gold finish.
- Limited Editions: Each icon is produced in limited quantities ranging from 30 to 120 pieces.
- Price Range: Prices vary from $650 for the enameled silver computer key to $2,020 for the gold vermeil necklace pendant.
