Testing Confirms No Interference Between MagSafe and C1 Modem in iPhone 16e

The iPhone 16e, Apple's budget-friendly model, does not support MagSafe charging. Initial speculation suggested that the omission was due to potential interference with the C1 chip, Apple’s first cellular modem for the iPhone. However, recent testing by an iPhone case accessory manufacturer has debunked this theory.

Wireless Charging Speeds

  • Without a Case: The iPhone 16e exhibits variable wireless charging rates, ranging from 4.2W to 6.5W across five cycles.
  • With MagSafe-Enabled Case: The device consistently charges at 7.5W in all five cycles, matching Apple's quoted speed.

Cellular Data Speeds

  • No Case: Average speeds of around 198 Mbps were recorded over five cycles.
  • MagSafe-Enabled Case: Similar average speeds of around 196 Mbps were observed.
  • MagSafe-Enabled Case + MagSafe Puck: Results were also consistent, with an average speed of about 195 Mbps.

These tests confirm that there is no interference between the C1 modem and MagSafe magnets. The exclusion of MagSafe in the iPhone 16e is likely a cost-saving measure by Apple.
