This particular vehicle holds immense historical value as it was the only Daytona Coupe personally owned by legendary designer Carroll Shelby. Beyond its pedigree, it is one of only six ever manufactured and is unique for being the sole example raced by a privateer. This sale significantly eclipsed the previous record for an American car, held since 2018 by a 1935 Duesenberg SSJ that sold for $22 million.
