Todd Howard has opened up about the premature announcement of The Elder Scrolls 6, which first debuted as a brief teaser during E3 2018. Howard revealed that the decision to announce the game so early was largely driven by a need to reassure fans of the studio's commitment to single-player RPGs following the reveal of the multiplayer-focused Fallout 76. However, he admitted that he would have preferred a much shorter window between announcement and release. With the game still deep in production years later, Howard suggested that fans should essentially pretend it hasn't been announced yet to manage expectations during the long wait.
