Sonnet's New xMac & PCIe Gear for Mac Mini

Sonnet Technologies, a long-standing provider of Mac expansion solutions, has introduced new professional hardware at NAB 2025 to enhance the capabilities of Apple's latest M4 and M4 Pro Mac mini models. The lineup includes:

• xMac mini Expansion Module: A 2U rackmount system that houses one or two Mac minis and connects them to high-performance PCI-e cards via Thunderbolt 4 or Thunderbolt 5. It supports digital video interfaces, NVMe SSD storage, and 25Gb Ethernet adapters. The latest version offers higher bandwidth with Thunderbolt 5.
• RackMac mini (2024+): A rugged steel enclosure that houses up to three Mac mini units in a standard 19-inch rack. It features front-to-back airflow, front panel access, and additional space for USB SSDs, making it ideal for mobile racks, edit bays, or server deployments.
• eGPU Breakaway Box 850e: A Thunderbolt 5 PCI-e enclosure designed for full-length, full-height PCI-e cards. While not supported as an eGPU on Apple Silicon, it provides up to 6,000 MB/s of PCI-e bandwidth for high-performance cards like digital video I/O, NVMe SSDs, or multiport network adapters.

The xMac mini Expansion Module is priced at $499.99 and is in stock. The RackMac mini (2024+) Enclosure costs $299.99 but is currently out of stock. Pricing and availability for the Breakaway Box 850e have not been announced yet.
