The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has provisionally found that Apple's rules about what developers can do within browsers are limiting innovation. The CMA launched its Mobile Ecosystems Market Study in 2021, which determined that Apple and Google had a duopoly in mobile ecosystems. The provisional findings say that Apple's rules restrict competition because of the limitations placed on browser functionality for third-party developers.
